About the Author
Richard Rawlings, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, developed a passion for automobiles from an early age, attending professional car shows with his dad and buying and selling multiple vehicles in his teens. A veteran of transcontinental road rallies, he has won the Gumball 3000 and the Bullrun twice, and he broke a world record in the Cannonball Run that had stood for twenty-five years. He is the owner of the world-renowned hot rod shop Gas Monkey Garage and the star of Discovery's hit series Fast N' Loud.

This book was a fun read. I didn't expect a business book, or a deep tail of the human condition. But what I did get was a pretty interesting understanding on where Richard Rawlings came from and how approaches business. It's open, honest, and overall it leaves you feeling like you would have a beer with him. He never tries to pass himself off as something he is not, and gives credit where credit is due.I really do recommend this book. By the way, there is some business sense in the book as well.
Great story. Super audio tape. Loved the introduction by Richard himself and even though Andrew Cendese read it quite well, after hearing Richard's voice, my husband and I wanted to hear Richard read it. Especially when he said, "Boom!" We are diehard "Gas Monkey Garage" watchers and knew Richard's story, but hearing it in basically his words, it was so much better and if it was in his voice--"Boom!" Great comments on all of his coworkers which told us some things we did not know. His favorite episodes were ours also and we have watched every one of the ones he mentioned, so that made them even more enjoyable. His tips on where to look for cars beyond Ebay and Craig's list were very good also.
Richard's a successful guy and his story is an interesting read. I've been watching Fast 'n Loud on demand from season one recently. It's not just about fixing cars but the risks he took to grow his business. I first saw Richard on Misfit Garage where he always rides in like the know-it-all genius and harasses the guys. All American story the way he's built his empire over the past 5 years.
My 13 year old son hates to read. He wanted this book and I bought it because GOOD GOD HE WANTS TO READ. He said its the best book he ever read, that he was intrigued by the story and the author's struggle. It does have some curse words in it but hey he is reading! Sometimes you gotta look the other way.
I'm a Richard Rawlings & GMG fan, so of course I loved this book. Only thing I wish is that it had a bit more of his own humor in it. But if you're a RRR, GMG or FastNLoud fan, you'll love it.
As a fan of the show, I had an idea of how the book would read. Richard is who he is, either on television, or on paper. But he also had some great stories to tell, and his will to succeed shines through.I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and it was easy and quick to read.
I've seen the TV show Fast and Loud but did not imagine the greatness of its creator, Richard. I loved what they did with old and rusty vehicles. This made me look at cars in a whole different way. Reading this book, however, shows a deeper person, bigger than life but cool as hell. A real entrepreneur, able to survive and create his own future really impress me. Love this reading, well presented, nice to know the characters behind a great show and a great men.
An easy read with lots of pictures. If you are a Richard Rawlins / Gas Monkey fan, you will enjoy it. I did.

He is recognized for pioneering work on bonded composite repair of metallic aircraft components for which he has received many awards, including the 1990 Australian Government Minister s Award for Achievement in Defence Science, the 1999 Royal Aeronautical Society (Australia) Lawrence Hargrave Award, the 1999 Royal Aeronautical Society (UK) Specialist Gold Medal, the 2011 Engineers Australia AGM Michell Medal, and in 2015 he was elected as a World Fellow of the International Committee on Composite Materials.
Murray L. Scott is Chairman of Advanced Composite Structures Australia, the specialist engineering spin-out company of the world renowned Cooperative Research Centre for Advanced Composite Structures, of which he was Chief Executive Officer for over 13 years. He is an Adjunct Professor of RMIT University and has 35 years aerospace engineering experience working in both industry and academia. He is a long-standing World Fellow and has served as President (2001-03) of the International Committee on Composite Materials. Since 1994, he has represented Australia on the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences and has served in various capacities, including as President (2013-14). He continues to focus on developing new technologies for the design, low-cost manufacture, and support of application-critical composite structures in aerospace and other fields.

This is the first book on kindle, that I bought in the store, which is formatted per page (like pdf, but it is not pdf).Font is small, you cannot change font size, 1/4th of vertical space is left blank between text and page number, block of text is like 2/3 of horizontal space of the screen. Also there are clear typesetting issues because words are sometimes glued together without spaces.Everything described above greatly distracts from actual contents. I don't think I would be able to actually read whole book on kindle. Interesting book is unfortunately defeated by poor editing.
I wanted to learn how to make retro pixel art for a programming contest I had entered. I could just not get anything to look anywhere near good given the restrictions of the contest. But I have seen many examples of excellent pixel art with even more stringent restrictions than I had. This book was a great introduction to pixel art. Several concepts that I would have never figured out on my own. The book wont make you an artist, but it can help artists improve in restricted mediums.Grant it, there is probably nothing in this book that can'y be found on the web, but then I can't download the entire web onto my tablet and take it with me. :)
The writing and the organization is a bit too casual, but still a steal at this price. It really breaks down the basics in ways that most other sites/tutorials gloss over. Very useful book if your looking to pixel (or perler) with experience in another medium.
A bit disappointed with this purchase. The product page for this 2015 ebook lists the page count as 686 pages - but in reality it's just 206 pages. Also, there is a notice in the front of the book that the resources needed for the tutorials are located on the author's website and a link is given - but while that website is there, the page/folder for the resources is not.The pages of this book are static like a PDF, not like a regular Kindle book. On my Fire HD 10, the pages are presented only in single page portrait mode. The book is sort of poorly formatted - there are some issues with text overlapping and no breaks between paragraphs.There are nine chapters and three appendices. The bulk of the book is text - so if you're not much of a reader that might be an issue. Overall I would have to say that the author does provide a lot of good basic information and given the price of the book, it's worth adding to your digital library.
Good book on the basics. If you have a bit of experience, this might be slightly too beginner-level for you. It still has some helpful content for intermediate pixel artists, however.
Heavy on the text but informative
This book goes very in depth and has a lot of technical information. It has some great info on what programs to use for pixel art. Just about everything a person needs to know about pixel art.
I was expecting so much more about this, and is really really disappointing. Is really short and have a lack of content.
